Around the world trees are sparse in socioeconomically disadvantaged communities and more abundant in wealthier neighborhoods. We want to be part of the change! Our goal is to grow drought resistant, free or very affordable trees for everybody. Our focus is to grow native trees and cactus that will improve the value of the neighborhoods.
Other organizations are working on the same goal. Here are some links where you can find interesting ideas:
- Tree Equity Score (TES): It calculates a score for all 150,000 neighborhoods and 486 municipalities in urban America — cities and nearby small towns that have at least 50,000 people. More than 70 percent of the U.S. population lives in these urban places.
- City Plants is a non-profit organization running a public-private partnership between the City of Los Angeles and six other non-profit organizations. Together, we work with community groups, residents, and businesses to coordinate tree planting and care throughout Los Angeles.
- American Forests creates healthy and resilient forests, from cities to wilderness, that deliver essential benefits for climate, people, water and wildlife. We advance our mission through forestry innovation, place-based partnerships to plant and restore forests, and movement building.
